JOB DESCRIPTION:
Key Responsibilities
  • To contribute in implementation and enhancement of electrical equipment integrity management.
  • To ensure fit for purpose and effectiveness of electrical equipment conforming to Codes and Standards, Company policies and guidelines.
  • Logical working with the capability of identifying problems and offering solutions.
  • Capable of working as part of a team and to lead when required
  • Forward thinking and ambitious, with willingness to travel globally
  • Prepared to work offshore if and when required

Qualification Required
  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering
  • Proficiency in Written and spoken English
Experience Required
  • 8-10 years' experience in the required field.

Knowledge/Skills Required

Generating Equipment and System
  • Able to describe, interpret and explain the relevant standards and regulations with regard to power generation system design, operation and maintenance
  • Has an in-depth understanding of the topic, both theoretical and practical, and can immediately tackle problems arising in the areas of operation and maintenance.
  • Able to describe power system stability problems and propose solutions to overcome instability.
Electric Motors
  • Able to describe, interpret and explain the relevant EC and NEC standards, codes and practices which relate to motor hazardous area classification, safety engineering and operation.
  • Able to develop control systems of motors; understands and able to interpret the control system through the wiring diagram.
Electrical Safety and Regulations
  • Able to describe, interpret and explain the relevant sections of the Acts and Regulations & PTS relating to safety engineering and/or operation.
  • Provide guidance and input in the preparation of safety reports and execution of safety audits and procedures.
Switchgear
  • Able to describe and explain in -depth the design and detailed construction of switchgear and MCC arc extinction mechanism, operating mechanism; the requirements of interlocking (design and mechanism), inspection and testing requirements, purpose and method, evaluation and analysis of test results and develop procedures for inspection and Testing
  • Able to conduct diagnosis and analysis of switchgear faults, failure signs and effect on the systems (e.g. insulation breakdown, joint or termination failure, protective relay malfunction, corona effect and ageing and deterioration.
AC and DC Uninterruptible Power Supply (UPS) System
  • Able to analyze the quality and reliability of various UPS power supplies.
  • Able to justify the economics of various system configurations, which suit a particular purpose
Protection
  • Able to analyze the quality and reliability of relays and protection systems.
  • Able to describe fault calculations (symmetrical & unsymmetrical), impedance calculations and impedance diagram, protection coordination and discrimination.
Electrical Network and Monitoring Control
  • Able to describe and explain the requirements of a system and to specify and select types, configurations and sizes of ENMC systems.
Electrical Condition Monitoring
  • Understands basic theory used for a variety of CM techniques.
  • Understands common plant failure mechanisms and CM techniques, which can be applied to monitor health of equipment.
